Amy Furman

Chief of Staff

Amy is Marcy Lab’s Chief of Staff, tasked with advising and supporting senior leadership while “systematizing” Marcy’s magic and incubating a few fun projects. For the past decade, Amy has led and collaborated on a number of initiatives aimed at reducing socioeconomic inequality, which she very much embraces as her life’s work. Most recently, she supported the national expansion of a Cornell Tech initiative to encourage more women and gender-diverse students at public universities to pursue studies and careers in technology. Before that, she oversaw a few portfolios of job training programs for the City of New York after having served as a policy advisor, stewarding equity- and sustainability-focused citywide long-term planning. Amy started her career working in schools as an AmeriCorps member in the South Bronx and is currently completing her Masters at CUNY in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences. Amy grew up in Pennsylvania, but she has Irish, German, Polish, and Swedish roots and has called Queens home for nearly half her life. When she’s not actually traveling the world, she enjoys dancing, running, and eating her way through the world’s borough. Her workout playlist is dominated by Rihanna and Shakira, but she can otherwise usually be found in her feelings, listening to the likes of Amy Winehouse, John Legend, Adele, and Vance Joy.
