Michell Clark
Director of Marketing & Communications

Michell Clark is the Director of Marketing & Communications at The Marcy Lab School, where he leads brand, storytelling, and content strategy across the organization. He shapes how the school tells its story to prospective Fellows, employer partners, and funders, ensuring that every piece of communication reflects the dignity, ambition, and brilliance of the young people Marcy serves. A writer and visual artist by craft and a communicator by calling, Michell brings a storyteller's instinct to institutional work, treating brand and content as vehicles for access, belonging, and impact. He oversees Marcy's creative output across video, design, web, and social, partnering with a network of collaborators to build systems that grow with the school.
Before joining Marcy, Michell served as Digital Media Manager at The Narrative Project, where he led social media and communications for a portfolio of mission-driven nonprofit clients, developing brand voice and data-informed content systems for several organizations at once. His path also includes time at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. Across every role, his work has centered a single conviction: that clear, honest, human storytelling is among the most powerful tools we have for expanding opportunity and moving people to act.
Raised in Woodbridge, Virginia, Michell is a West Point and U.S. Army veteran, an Eagle Scout, and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied sociology — a lens that still shapes how he thinks about systems, culture, and care. Outside of Marcy, he is a prolific creator and the author of two books, Eyes On The Road and Keep It 100, as well as the writer behind the Love Lives Here newsletter and host of the After You Fail podcast.
He lives in New Haven, Connecticut, with his wife and creative partner, Duanecia, with whom he is raising a family and building work rooted in the belief that everyone deserves to be seen.
