Reuben Ogbonna, Executive Director
Reuben Ogbonna is Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Marcy Lab School. For the past seven years, Reuben has served low-income students of color as a math teacher, school leader, and leadership coach. During the summer of 2015, he served as a Teaching Fellow at the Flatiron School. In this role, Reuben taught introductory web development courses for high school students with little to no prior experience in computer science. Reuben believes in the innate ingenuity of young people and their ability to source solutions to their own problems if given the proper tools.
Maya Bhattacharjee, Chief Program Officer
Maya Bhattacharjee-Marcantonio is Co-Founder and Chief Program Officer of The Marcy Lab School. She has devoted her career to centering and uplifting students throughout New York. She started her career on Marcy Avenue as an English teacher and instructional coach at Leadership Prep Bedford Stuyvesant Academy. Since then, she has served as a Director of School Culture, a literacy curriculum specialist, and most recently, a Program Director at Teach For America. In 2018, Maya was selected for the HELM Social Design Studio Fellowship, traveling to Ethiopia to advocate for the rights of migrant youth and women.
David Wysoki, Founding Board
David Wysoki is counsel at $7B+ investment firm, Ellington Management, founder of CCNY Code, mentor to multiple tech startups and ex-EIR at the Colin Powell School for Future Leaders in Harlem.
Imani HOpe, founding Board
Imani Hope is the Managing Director of Community Affairs at Teach For America - New York. Imani is a former educator with a breadth of experience in community organizing, public policy, and non-profit leadership.
Aaron Glover, founding Board
Aaron Glover is an Executive Director at JP Morgan Chase and Co, working in US Equity Sales. He brings ten years of financial services experience and a passion for mentorship to the Marcy Lab School Board of Directors.
Bina Carroll, Advisory Board
Bina Carroll currently heads campus recruitment for CBRE's Digital & Tech organizations. She has over eight years of experience at leading tech companies, including Bloomberg, IXL, and Google. Bina also leads the Diversity and Inclusion Committee in CBRE's New York tech office. The committee's key mandates include improving diverse hiring and employee engagement.
Aankit Patel, Founding Board
Aankit Patel is Senior Director of Computer Science Academics at the New York City Department of Education. In his role he works with CS education community in NYC, nationally and internationally to understand how to best prepare K-12 students to make sense of the role of computing in their lives. Working across 1800+ NYC schools, Aankit spends, time with administrators, school leaders, and teachers to bring CS into all classrooms.
Sidney Primas, Advisory Board
Sidney Primas is a technical lead at Google X, focusing on machine learning applications in the medical field. Prior to Google, Sidney led the Health Sensor Team at Jawbone, where he productized the bioimpedance sensor currently in the UP3 and UP4 wearable products. Sidney graduated with a BSE from Duke University and a masters in Computer Science from MIT.
Nadja Shaw, Founding Board
Nadja Shaw currently leads the learning and development strategy for the tech workforce accelerator, Trilogy Education Services. She is a Harlem native who has previously served as a K-6 teacher and school leader. As founder of Collective Ideation Consulting, LLC, Nadja seeks to support teams, organizations, and leaders identify strategy aligned to Diversity, Equity, Inclusiveness (DEI), learning needs, and leadership development.
Tyler Lambe, Advisory Board
Tyler Lambe is a seasoned software engineer, educator and entrepreneur. Most recently, Tyler was a Managing Director at Hack Reactor, a leading software engineering school. He has extensive experience bootstrapping, operating and scaling immersive education programs across the country.
Yang Su, Advisory Board
Yang Su is currently a Technical Lead at Quip, where he works on a modern productivity suite used by many of the world's top companies. Previously, Yang was an engineer at Coursera, helping the company realizing its mission of delivering world class education to everyone. Yang grew up in China's Inner Mongolia and studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Duke University.
Owen Losse, Advisory Board
Owen Losse is an Assistant Superintendent at Uncommon Schools, coaching and managing principals to build great middle schools throughout Brooklyn. Owen has 15 years of experience in district and charter schools as a teacher and founding principal. Because of his passion for school culture and instruction, his staff send students to high school each year having reversed the achievement gap in Math and English. His undergraduate background is in math and computer science.
Matt Candler, Advisory Board
Matt Candler is the founder of 4.0 Schools, a community of people sharing what they’re learning in early trials of promising new approaches to teaching and learning. To date, 4.0’s invested in more than 1,000 aspiring change agents, equipping them to run pop-meal and food-truck-scale versions of new learning spaces and tools across the US.
